MILWAUKEE — West Milwaukee police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Monday morning, August 3rd.

According to police, officers responded to the area of W. National Avenue and S. 50th Street around 2:10 a.m. for a report of shots fired.

Dispatch advised responding officers that a white vehicle occupied by two black males had fled eastbound on W. National Avenue after one or both occupants had shot at a red vehicle several times.

When officers arrived on scene, they learned that the red vehicle had also fled eastbound on W. National Avenue. Police say the 24-year-old male victim drove himself to the area of 5th Street and W. National Avenue — where he called the Milwaukee Police Department.

The investigation indicates that at least one suspect shot several rounds into the 24-year-old victim’s vehicle as he tried to drive in reverse in an attempt to escape.

The victim sustained as least one non-life threatening gunshot wound and was taken to an area hospital.

The motive for this shooting is unknown at this time and no suspect(s) have been taken into custody. The incident remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call the West Milwaukee Police Department at 414-645-2151.
