MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating a shooting that occurred Monday night, August 1st near Teutonia and Locust
Police say a 30-year-old Green Bay man was shot around 9:45 p.m. This, after he came to the area to buy drugs and was approached by a male suspect.
According to officials, the suspect stole items from the victim and then shot him.
The victim went to an MFD Fire Station near Teutonia and Locust and was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
"There was apparently some contact between (his) vehicle and the overhead door -- but it was not substantial enough to take the door out of service," MFD Deputy Chief Aaron Lipski said.

Fire stations are save havens, which means they're places people can go when there's a crisis. This shooting victim went to the closest place he could find for help -- and officials with the Milwaukee Fire Department say this isn't unusual.

MFD Deputy Chief Aaron Lipski
"The initial report was that this was related to a shooting -- so there`s a whole measure of trauma care that goes into dealing with those wounds because a lot of internal damage can occur, so they sort all that out, stabilize the patient and get that patient going. I think people understand when you go to that building and ring that doorbell, help is on the other side of that door," Lipski said.
Lipski said MFD is always prepared for walk-ins.
"They`ve got the EMS jump bag. They`ve got their oxygen kit," Lipski said.
Fire officials are equipped to handle all kinds of situations -- from scraped knees to gunshot wounds.
Injured victims stop by the fire station often enough that many fire houses are equipped with a patient chair -- where crews can begin triage.
"It`s fundamental to our entire reason for being here," Lipski said.
Milwaukee police continue to investigate the shooting.
